GT colors

scubasteve06, your diet is excellent. As far as colors, everyone here summed it up well.

I have tried many pellets such as those mentioned above but I believe the most important is variation and clean water.

Lighting is also key. As mentioned, you want at least 6500K or for a nice pure bright white light go 10,000K. For even bluer highlights, go with 20,000K: as mentioned previously, powerglo bulbs deliver that kelvin.

Lastly, gt colors have alot to do with genetics. Sometimes you do all you can do but your fish just doesn't have that show quality 'look'. I knew immediately my gt had good genes when I bought him at 3"

Going this weekend to buy those lunar lights to see if I can bring out some more color in all my fish. I think the crappy strip lights from all-glass aren't the best when it comes to lighting. I'm going with 135 watts, so we will see what this does. If that doesn't bring his colors out I will just have to face the fact that he just doesn't "have it"...

Feed him Spirulina. It naturally enhances the blues and greens dramatically. Hikari Bio Gold and Excel should solve this problem. If you don't want to pay a lot for Hikari foods just look for anything w/ a lot of spirulina in it.
