ding ding ding we have a winner!!! kevenflemming21!!! ya i breed praying mantises and every year i go put the eggs from my breeding pairs in one section of our backyard. then i regularily check them and then harvest the best ones from the clutches. i will go see if i can get some pix of them right now. i have one high end melenistic one lime green with super eyespots and one...super red one!!! i have only ever seen one other red common mantis, so im prettty stoked about finding him. i have been keeping mantises since i was around 6 so i now have a pretty good idea about their every need. if you know of a place though that sells malaysian spider or malaysian orchid mantises i will be forever in your debt. i found i guy who sold them once before, but he was sold out:( im going to take your pix right now

WoOt! will you ship me one as a prize? LOL

if i get some good ones from theese breeders i will def look into shipping some out to people. it wont be till about maybe next march, depends on if i trick them into hatching early or not.

hey ive been thinking about breeding mantis for a while but i never thought it was possible... i live in socal and i was wondering if the weather was good enough to do what your doing... and where did you get your mantis? out in the back yard? we have lime green looking mantis where im from but what i was looking into are the mantis that live on orchids

keep me in the loop!

i take the eggs from my breeders and go put half the cluthches in the backyard and the other half i keep indoors in a little tin, in the fridge. after a few months i take the one in the fridge and start warming them up by placing them in a little cage outside. as they hatch some of them stay in the cage and some just walk away. the melenistic one is from a line ive been doing for 3 years now, i had a super black female that had black(not brown)every thing it was cool. but the orange i have only seen one other time. and so he is wild caught, probably from my clutches but he was caught in the wild
