Do you know the difference between the varieties of SDs. The ones I am particularly interested is are clean silver with no dots and have hooked fins. Do you know what species this is?

Here is the best pic that I can get of my 3 SDs, would like to expand this group to 7 or more:naughty:

Hey Ric, nice hearing from you! The ones I know off my head that don't have dots and just hooks are redhooks. However, their are some varieties of sds that will just have a orange fin and no dots. Those are the tank raised common silverdollars that you see at petco. If you get one with dots it can be a diffrent species. My favorite silverdollar without dots byfar is Myleus Aruem. Grow to 9'' and extremely rare. Must be willing to pay 150 dollars and up.
Silverdollar keeping to me is like dat and aro keeping. We need more dollar keepers.
 
Brian, I've seen that kind every now and then at the lfs. I even owned a few at one time but traded them for the larger growing red spotted red hook SD's. You should eventually run into some if you keep looking.

i had some of those a while back, i don't know what they are called though. try sending bogwoodbruce a pm, he is pretty good at IDing silver dollars
