guessing my VATF did this to Dorado

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Give him a chance bro. I had a Leichardti arowana that was attacked by a big catfish and his tail was nearly down to the bone. I don't that it was this bad but very very close. I would have never thought any fin could grow out of the stump that was left behind. He healed up 100% with good water quality and salt. Good luck to you.

yea my mistake. just though if the VATF didn't mess with the smaller 4inch tilapia, that the much faster dorados would not be at risk. the other 4 dorados are 7 inches or so, this was the smallest one. the odoes didnt do it cos they lived together with dorados in harmony in a much smaller tank.

have added salt, he's housed with the very gentle tarpons which were together with dorados and odoes before. guys doing alright, colors still vibrant as before his tail was ripped off. the frayed ends have dropped off, remenant of tail fin fell off , damaged skin blackened, and the wound appears to be healing. hopefully the flesh will grow closed around what looks like his tail bones, still pink in color. May be by tomorrow it'll turn white which is a good sign... still swiming around like a champ. As long as he heals and can catch food, will take care of him.

good to see that fish recover. I would go utterly berserk if my Dorado had a run in like that. ....that...and if my GATF decided to attack something...that fish is prob dead.

If that fish recovers he is a BEAST

WOW... didnt see this till now!

Thats taking a bite out of crime:WHOA:

As long as hes eating he should be fine... I would keep a close eye on the healing process... u dint want it to get infected. I ould just do a lot of water changes and lots of, lots of salt.... If im not mistaken, Dorados are fast healers like ATFs. I would also stay away 100% from feeders cause they would bring infections (unless u have a Q-tank for the feeders)

G/L and im sure he will heal in about 2 months:headbang2

Post some pics of your V A T F:naughty:
