I'm actually thinking about getting one of these stocks for my 500. It reduces almost all of the recoil.

dunno really! just wanted to do something different with the gun. i had too much tacticool stuff on it that was just adding weight. taking a different route, trying to build the perfect home defense shotgun w/o unecessary parts and gadgets. you cant go wrong with that stock though.

ebay has a bunch of them for decent prices. i sold mine for $100

id say its overpriced. get a plain 870 at Big 5 or other shop for about $300. then youll have $200 to add all sorts of cool stuff and youll end up with a better gun.

you could do:
- heat shield
- fiber optic bead sight
- side saddle / shell carrier
- extended mag tube
- all sorts of options with buttstock/forend. just depends on what you want

Hey all,

I will be moving out of the rents house within a year, as I will be graduating in May. One of my first purchases will be a shotgun. I am choosing this as the ideal weapon to protect my home for a couple reasons. 1 - I don't have to be an Ace shot with it, the spray helps and 2 - The sound of a shotgun cocking is a very distinguishable sound.


My question is this: What to get? I have been looking at pistol grips with a folding stock, and I like remington's (http://www.remington.com/products/f.../model_870_folding_stock_7-shot_Extension.asp)

Is there anything else you guys would recommend? Any other shot/gun in general?

First off I want to give you an early congrats and secondly I don't know too much about guns but I would think having a shotgun and a couple handguns would be cool. Once I started with one gun I would get addicted and probably start collecting a few lol

Awesome, sounds great! I like the look of the pistol grip, however, I want performance as well. Is there anyway to do kind of a combined pistol grip/stock? (Hopefully that made sense)
