Guppies have birth once monthly, most of the time without a male.
They drop 3-200 based on size, and without the right shelter most of them will die to the parents.
I've never heard of a 3" guppy so your a freak, mr.
But 5-7 babies? You have to be TRYING to get small litters.
We used to have a bunch in my 30g, but then I put a bichir/terror in there and they got vacuum'd.
"shut up no they dont!!"

I was getting on my computer, looking in the fishbowl next to it, noticed my 1" guppy had a single baby. So I'm gonna be counting over the next hour to see how many I get. Hmmm...
2 so far.

I put an airstone in there when she stopped @ 2, 10 minutes later now there's 6.

I know she's still going.

I haven't fed her since last night, should I feed her & the babies or wait a couple days?

Too late I fed them.

Haha this new guppy swam by with a giant stomach full of bright pink flakes

No they don't.

A large mature female (2.5") will easily have more than the 5-7 that is common of the smaller fish. But they aren't having 60-90. They might have 10+.

|....... Guppy ........|
She just gave me anywhere from 28-32.
|......................... 2.5" ........................| = probably about 200.

The bowl was temporary. And the guppy is back in the 55g.
If you think that 30 newborn guppies need more than a gallon of water then thats your business.

The bichir is 3.5"-4" right now. Not exactly going to outgrow a 30g any time soon. Too bad I don't have a 55g or something useful like that laying around for then now do I?

And It's not a video game competition on posts. I couldn't edit them anymore so I made another. Oops.

Haha I wasn't trying to be the guppy expert, but my guppy just HAPPENED to be giving birth today. I was so happy haha

I think 30 new born guppies need filtered water, hard to do in a 1 gallon bowl. ANd yes I do think they need more than 1 gallon. At least 5 gallons.

Iv had guppies for a while and find it depends on the female. They can keep sperm inside without letting the eggs fertilise until they think the conditions are ok for them to be birth'd. This is what iv been told and Im still very new to the fish keeping but looking to expand my knowledge on here.
