guppy pregnant

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
lol i just did it, i put him in there and the female is outside looking at him staying in one position and he is looking at her from inside!!! awww love story! well now maybe the fry will stand a chance from being eaten by him. when she gives birth to them i will catch all of them in a net and keep it in the water then let the male go and put all the fry in the breeding trap. how many times should i feed them a day? twice?

Well the female guppy is looking more peaceful now that i've taken the male out. My female is completely bright yellow with a dark red tail and my male is very dark blue with a light blue/greeny head. I had five guppies before this, but one got stuck to my filter and had his insides ripped out and the other two females died when they were both pregnant they went grey and lost their scales, some people were saying its because they were old and pregnant and sometimes it can be very stressful.

Is the breeding net, a net, or a plastic box with holes in it? The plastic box will not allow enough water movement to keep the water fresh. I use plastic breeding grass on the top and bottom of my tank. Float a few pieces upside down. The fry can hide and play in it. What kind of filter are you using?

I have a juwel filter box thing! the female is pretty much the same, she's still in one position near the surface, and the breeding thing has holes at the bottom so it should be ok. I've go some of that plastic grass stuff you're talking about, will put some in soon.

good luck with it!!! if i was you i would be more inclined to leave the male out and keep the female in the breeder net, then you dont have to worry about the fry escaping away and getting eaten,,,was else do you have in the tank fish wise?
he i remember when i was as exsited as you at breeding and now iam over run with babies,,,got about 40 guppy fry/80 bristlenose plec babies,,,my friend who owns our lfs is happy mind
