hmmm. I was thinking maybe i can just cut notch's in the pvc like a regular HOB overflow. Opinions?op n/m its basically what you said fish eat fish

or a much simpler way would be to just add a 90 degree angle.? or will that not work

It may work but it wont stop feeders/smallfish/plants/debris/etc from getting in and ending up in your filter or settling in the bottom over you overflow loops.

Place a ball-valve on the drain line.

Anywhere between the last T and your drip plate. Adjust the value so the air intake matches your flow, once you find that point, you'll have no gurgle.

I've tried pretty much everything else in the past (dursos, countless air hole sizes, air line tubing in the holes, standpipe height, larger piping, etc). Ball-valves actually focus on the root cause, air intake not matching your flow.

I think if i do that though my return pump will suck the trickle sump dry because the overflow wont push out enough water. i do have a ball valve on the return pump line but it makes a funny sound when i do try to throttle it with the valve. what i should do is use a tee but everything is already cemented together.(is that my only option?)

thanks guys

ill just go with a short ram!! intake. kidding

The ball valve on the pipe going into the sump will work as well. I included a pic of my sump and you can see on the 2 inch pvc how much I had to cut back the ball valve to stop the gurgling. Throttling back the return after the pump will not hurt anything. It will actually make you pump last longer if you create a little pressure on it. I have overflows in my tank and had to throttle my valves back to keep the backside of the overflows about half full. If I open the 2 inch pvc valve a shade more the back side of my overflows drain completely out and make a nice roaring noise. I have a 3500 gpm pump and it does not suck my sump empty.

I use a 90 on my intake with a piece of gutter guard as a screen.

whats gutter guard?

Will take you some pics later. In the gutter section at menards about $4 a roll 4-5"x30'. Black screen to keep leaves out of the gutter.
