Gymnogeophagus balzani updates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm another fan, I just did a make-over on their tank last night (here). I started with 5 and I think I've got a pair. two of the smaller "spares" have been moved into another tank and now one of them is developing a small hump, so who knows, it certainly didn't grow anywhere near as fast as the other dominant male did.

Post some full-tank shots!

Lovely balzanii, especially those wild caughts Ken.

I shipped my Male and Female to a large colony over on the other side of the country. I was always worried about the cooling period, so I'm glad they've gone to an established tank that gives them this necessity.

Those wild caught ones are beautiful!!! I got mine back in April 08, here's a pic of them then:

Japes I'm still not sure about the cooling period thing, if they are wild caught fish that you know are from a more southern location then it might be more of a requirement, but I'm guessing the ones we get have been captive bred for a couple of generations at least. I'm running my tank at around 23-25C and they seem to be loving it.

So in 8 months I'll have some square fish... :)
