Gymnogeophagus balzani updates

My male went from a tiny 1 1/2" fish to a 5 1/2" squre monster in about 4 months

wow...how did you do it? I do weekly 50% wc and feed them at least half a dozen different foods each day....any tricks for this species?

Great pics. I have some small ones (like in the before shot). I've noticed they fight pretty viciously with each other, but are peaceful to everyone else.

they did fight in the first few days, but very quickly settled down. Guess a pecking order is in place.

peathernster do you have anymore pics? i wanna see some updated balzani ones...i need to have hope that mine will have humps!!! im going to pick up some more so i can get a pecking order as i heard that they cause larger humps

They don't get too big - probably like medium sized geophagus but taller. I'd say 6" is pretty good.
