I have heard that the reason why armatus are so rare is because they are only found in Venezuela and can not be legally imported from there.

Ive been doing tons and tons of research of this (cause I REALLY REALLY want one) on many fish keeping sites. The general consensus is that this fish only comes from Venezuela.

Well I decided to take a different approach in locating this fish. I decided to visit fishing websites and forums to see really where this fish is caught. True many are caught in Venezuela, but I have also found that they are abundant in Rio Negro, Xingu, and Thaimacu rivers in Brazil.

Why isnt anyone bringing these fish from these river systems?

They are a bit hard to find, aren't they? Glad I grabbed one when I had the chance.......

Did you check with River Wonders? He had a few, maybe still does.?

All-Happy never verified the ID of his fish. Im quite sure they were yellow tailed Tats. No one gets Armatus for $50. They wholesale for more than that.....

BTW it is only my opinion about All-Happy.

I wont get into the pics..... Seemed strange that as soon as he was questioned about their ID, they immediately came up "sold". And yes, a picture of an Armatus was posted. Wonder who bought them?

Anyway good luck finding one. It will be quite a quest to find one for $50.

Just FYI.

He was also selling scombs for $40. Strange only a $10 difference between these 2 fish.
