Ill say it again. I KNOW RIVER WONDERS HAS ARMATUS!

The intent of my thread was to ask why no one gets them from Brazil and why every "expert" on teh interwebs says they only come from Venezuela and we cant get fish from there and that is why they are expensive....

Im on the verge of ordering from RW. I wish I was lucky like vamptrev and get mine priced as a scomb!

Anyhow I talked to a major vendor on another forum and he said the reason why armatus are not coming from the rivers I mentioned is because the technology isnt there to support these fish.

DB, did you get yours from RW? If so what was his condition?

Yeah mine came from RW. It came in rough. I wouldn't expect ANYONE to get one in any other condition. There is not ONE Hydrolycus (or any other payara) species that ships well. Be prepared. Expect a skinny 2.5 inch fish. Don't expect sizing to be on. It's NOT. I made this mistake and ended up having to use a divider which temporarly damaged the snout on mine. I'de have a pre salted fully established 55 gallon tank (or bigger) with no lighting set up at 85 degrees with gutloaded rosies in it. Melafix and cupremine on hand. Be prepared for the worst.

Mine has grown well over 2 inches allready probobly closer to 3. Has allready started charging tankmates which are a pair of Rhaphiodons (1 almost 9 inches) and a pair of redtails (6in), I lost 2 redtails shortly after I cut the Armatus loose from the divider. Why they died I have no idea they had no signs of being attacked or diseased. Maybe the ray stung them???

This fish has exibited a growth rate I have NEVER seen before. And I own a Pbass. The attitude is unsurpassed.

Take it from me....if you enjoy fish at all drop the $200 and don't look back. You will NOT regret it. RW is doing thier damndest. They have a warranty. And told me mine would be replaced if it didn't pull through.

Just don't expect it to be a community fish.

Even with teachers in the tank mine still has not taken to dead food. It charges krill and has even taken a few shots but has not eaten it yet.

ya they are buddys, they are always following eachother. u gonna get one?

Why did you get a 2nd one? Feel the need to have a 2nd 700 gallon tank??? LOL

Oh, and Brad has a p14 he'de let go for 2K.

That's cheap from what I understand......Apparently going rate is 2.5K.

Those rays aren't cheap at all anymore........(Leo, Hen, or P14) I don't remember seeing one in the last 6 mo. for under 1.6K. if I had that kinda $ to spend on fish I'de definetly be spending it on "The Other Side"........a pair of salty dragons....
