American made is nothing to be proud of. Them lil' Asians do it faster, cheaper, higher quality, and more efficient.
dude I'll tell you what we may not be able(u.s.a) to build a t.v/vcr/dvd/etc worth a f@#k but we will bomb the **** out of that little aisan counrty faster harder and more efficent!! point being is supporte your american made product 's . it mite be putting money in your freind/family/neigbor's pocket some thing other forigen country 's don't care about and even big time amerian comany's either ex: cheap foriegn labor!........

aquaclear all the way since the amount of media you can put in there plus more gph flowrate. with form and ceramic rings (or any other biomedia) you will never have to purchase anything ever again while the filter pads in the emp400 will need replacing.

i want to upgrade the filter on my 29 gallons right now i have a whisper power 30 on it and im looking at either the aqua clear 70(300gph) or the emperor 280(280gph) i dont know which one to pick i like the bio-wheel but ive heard aqua clears are really good filters which one do u prefer?

Neither. Get yourself an Eheim canister filter. They're quiet and powerful, reliable and easy to take care of. In short: perfect and well worth the money.

canister filter's are the way weather it' Eheim , fluval, cascade , magnum .. a good shop should have spare part's . because any filter canister or not is prone to fail in some way! . happy hunting............

But a Canister is more. As for filter floss I don't toss mine I just rinse it. Pulled the carbon in my ACs. I have ACs on all my tanks except my SW. Pull the carbon and use filter floss. Turn of the filters once a week pull out the filter floss and syphon out the water on top of the sponges put the floss back in and turn them back on. AquaClear = Crystal Clear. Never had a problem with these. Canisters are bad@$$ though especially the canisters with built in heaters. You can also use alot more different filter medias. I prefer a sponge and filter floss though it does the job and you can't beat it for the price.

Rinse your floss guys don't toss it.
