It grows in big clumps on my cabomba and hornwort. I have a pike cichlid that'll get about 1' and a terror. Whats a fish that wont get eaten and wont get bigger than 1'. also will ghost shrimp eat it? cause the fish will eat some but there are tons of plants so most will hide and get away. Will they breed in the plants? thx

flourish exel? isnt that plant nutrients?

-barley straw
-barley straw pellets
-barley straw extract

it wont "kill it" but it will knock it back and slow/stop new growth

wont it stop the other plant growth? and any fish suggestions? Will the ghost shrimp work?

huh sounds good. thx. but still just wondering. Will or WIll NOT the ghost shrimp eat the algae

ghost shrimp wont even make a dent nor will any other algae eating invert.. there are some fish that will eat it (mollies for instance) however it is not their food of choice so unless you plan to stop feeding your fish yer sol on that as well... either way dont get a fish to do your job.. get a fish because you want to keep the fish..

ive yet to have any of my plants slowed or dampered by barley straw.. now true i dont have every type of aquatic plant in the world but ive never had a problem or heard of anyone else having an issue...

as for excel.. that also works.. however it does stop/kill/slow other plants (valisneria for instants dies in about 3-4 days after a dose of excel)... another thing to keep in mind with dosing with ferts is to add some bubbles/surface agitation since the plants will grow more at night.. and when they grow is when they stop producing oxygen and start releasing co2 which can spike and cause issues with your fish..

IMO barley straw is the best thing on the planet when it comes to hair algae
