Haitian cichlids update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I might go get some today to try out and see if he goes nuts over there. Last time I fed them I just threw them all in and let my fish pick them out of the substrate for as long as they survived. Is there any problem with doing this?
I haven't had any problems, I do rinse the worms very good before adding to the tank.

I always wondered what people were talking about when they mentioned them.
Really cool looking fish, never seen one ever. Wonder how hard they are to get here?
UMBEEKING UMBEEKING has them for sale most times if you can’t find some local to you. His lines are beastly

Thanks, I'd look into it but I live in australia! It would be almost impossible to legally import a live animal due to our strict quarantine laws.
We don't see too many unusual large fish here, generally legal importers only bring in the usual oscars , frontosas, etc.. And the rest come, from private breeders selling to the shops. Last time I saw Trimacs they were $180.00 AUD each and that was 3 years ago.

It's not too bad, there's still some, cool stuff available if you know, where to look. Somehow things do make it through but they cost a fortune, I saw a 4 inch red tail cat recently which is the most illegal of all restricted fish here. It was $1500 AUD. When I asked the guy in the shop where he got it he said someone brought it in a bucket and left it on the counter!
I will be shutting my 4 footer soon due to moving housemandmwould like something like a Haitian when I set it up again but not sure the tank would be big enough even if I could find one.
