Got 4 from my lfs at under an inch. Even at an inch you can take a pretty good guess on their sex. However, I have one that I can't seem to pinpoint the sex yet.

There are 2 things that throw me off:

1. She/He is as big as the other males.

2. She/He has a dark blotch on it's Cadual and Pectoral fins.

I am leaning towards a female, but I find myself going back and forth. He/She doesn't fight with the males (males fight each other), but it may be because the female is smaller than it. Thoughts?

Nice pick up man!! I have a pair growing out also, my male is about three inch now and by far my favourite fish already! Always in my face and eats out of my hand!!

Your last four pics are definitly female, I had 5 and ended up with one male, the biggest of the group ended up a female so size isnt that reliable. Black two thirds of the front portion of the dorsal good sign its female ( FWP' helped out with that) and I found that my females tail, caudle and pec fins stay crystal clear. My male started to get a light black rim around his tail and had a longer body.

Hope this helps! Duanes and FWP are good sources for these species. Good luck. Best tip I had was to not mess with them which is much more important then diet.

^^^ that's really all the advice you need!! He's dead on:) it's more the combo if black dorsal and crystal white caudel fins for females whereas males dorsals can look dark also but will have a darker/grayish caudel fin:) I agree last four female

I also believe your unknown looks female.
If it were me. I'd divide the tank, giving each its own compartment with a flower pot or cave in each.
I'd run the temp at about the mid 80s, and feed a high spirulina diet.

Waiting to get my hands on a pair also. I've never seen them at any of my lfs's.

nice fish bud
