It's half pool filter sand half black diamond from tractor supply co if you have one nearby. My substrate cost me $15 and I have a 5 gallon bucket and a half left lol.

Andy woods cichlids uk Andy woods cichlids uk !!!!!! My daughter (pictured in my avatar) walks around the house all day yelling "you can't do a video without JCB!!!!!" When would you recommend that I remove the others from the aquarium?

You will know when the time is right. They pair up easily. When there ready to spawn, and giving the others a hard time. Then you can remove the rest.
I do like hiding places in my tanks with juveniles.
