I've tried to feed him beef heart, but wont eat it! Occasionally he will get a chicken liver after throughly rinsing it first! I dont' give them too often because they are messy and don't want to ruin my water. I do 25-40% water changes 1 time per week. The smaller river stones are too big to use a python effectively so I have to scoot them around to get to the crap. I'd suggest smaller substrate or no substrate. Your cat wont mind if he is use to you allready. I have 3- 350 gph canisters on this right now, and 1 350 gph powerhead filter also. There is only 1 350 w heater on it right now and it runs 24/7 to keep the temp around 78 f. i lose about 1/4 of water per day due to evaporation. i keep the water level about 4-6 inches lower than the top of the pond due to the fact that every now and then these fish do jump, but not too often, and usually it's only half hearted jumps anyway when after prey. I can make him jump by holding the shrimp out of the water. He's very active for such a large fish. He is almost constantly patrolling the tank during the day and night. he periodically stops to rest for a few and then goes at it again. Your rtc should be awesome in a pond. He'll be much thicker and lazier than my hybrid at the same size. i am gonna make a wet dry filtration system very soon. I suggest you do the same with your pond and have a canister filter like fluval fx5 as a backup filter, and for the added filtration. RTCs produce tons of waste and you will have to clean the crap off of the bottom probably every other day on bare bottom or it will start to cloud the water everytime he swims around. I do it once per week because it gets trapped in the gravel. hope this helps and thanks everyone for the comments on the pics!
