Wasn't this thread about a good gun to take to the range and plink with ?

Beyond that though...
if you carry a weapon or have one in your house please insure that you train yourself / get trained by a pro for the highest accuracy/safety possible,
This is good advice as a newbie with a gun is usually a dead or wounded one.....

Nothing like one of these for back up-LOL

If that's the case, nothing out there is as cheap to shoot really as a 22. Here's one of my most favorite plinking guns, the Ruger MKII. This gun is accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. And you can't beat paying $12-$13 bucks for a birck of 500 rounds.

I tell my wife that nothing in the house is worth her killing someone over or risking her life in the dark against an unknown intruder. She's to stay in the bedroom and call 911. If they come through the bedroom door she can assume theyre coming after her and light em up.

you are a good man,
my policy is to say " I have a gun and will start shooting in 3 seconds" then count down from 3 and rack my mossberg. I have had to do this once and I never had to shoot anyone, infact i never saw em.

I tell my wife "make sure it aint me or somebody we know"

maybe its all in where we were raised ??

if you plan on using a shotgun inside a house remember that the pattern will be very small ( a few inches in diameter) and it needs to be aimed like a rifle.........ime use a deer barrel with iron sights

true, depending on the firearm, mine is made for "hallway use" and at 15' with 9 pelets of 00 has a spread of over 12"

I really want to get a air rifle pistol thingo, It's the only pistol we can get in aus, or at least brisbane.

My dad doesn't want to go through the paper work!!! it sucks, It's the only gun I can plink with in my backyard ( we live on a 1 and a half acre yard )... and I can't use my dad's rifles because it's too loud and Some one will call the cops and they're way to powerful to use around the house.

^ a wrist rocket sling shot is a good weapon for taking down small game, 1/4 in ball bearings pack a punch at 350-450 fps. I really think it could seriously kill or mame even a man or man sized animal...
just dont kill anything without a good reason (wabbits are tasty)

Lol, I've got one. They're pretty fun, But I prefer break barrel air rifles. And the break barrel Pistol looks like a lugar :headbang2

I might ask dad to give me the slingshot when he gets back from the mine ( It's in his gun cabinet... which I don't have the keys too, and my dad wouldn't be too thrilled if he knew i was using his weaponry.)

As much as I love that gun...I really do and own two....I think he was thinking a higher caliber gun. Have to go back to the CZ-52 or TT-33 as a fun to plink and rather cheap gun to just bring to the range and blast some holes in paper. Makorov mentioned is also pretty good but I'm finding 9x18 surplus rounds drying up and cost going up..7.62x25 seems to be rather stable and common for the time being... all of these firearms also have other uses. I personally carry only my CZ-52 for personal defense as well but this is another subject and different debate.
