I was going to remodel my room and I decided that I was going to get rid of some of my pets like my fish, but now Im thinking of maybe keeping the tank but just putting something new in it. I have a 55 gal and was wondering what you guys recommend. Im looking for something that I can come into the room and I can be amazed by it everytime I look at it/them. Im not sure what fish / group of fish I want but I know you guys can help. There arent that many rare fish around by where I live, there are some though but ordering online is a possibility although ive never done it before. I dont want it to be terribly hard to care for but I can handle most intermediate level fish. It would also have to live in the tank for its whole life or at least really long. I have a chameleon, my fish tank ,and another pet and I just want to really have 1 or maybe 2 pets, the 3 of them together seem like too much space is being given up to pets. Thanks in advance.

I don't know what fish you will be "amazed at everytime I look at it" but there are so many cool fish out there so what do you like? cichlids goldfish plecos predatory guppies the chioces are endless.

you want something easy to care for and awesome to look, go with two axolotls they are awesome, require smaller filters as they dont like rapid water movement, no heater as they like their water under 73 degrees 75 is too warm tho. they eat earthworms every other day and u can get like 30 worms for like 2 bucks at walmart. you can keep one in a 10 but i would recommend at least a 20 gal. you could easily house 2 or three in that 55. three would be pushing it. it would be lots of space but they are territorial at times. but if they fight and injure each other they regrow their limbs. you can order them offline if you cant find them around you. awesome wet pets. its not a fish but it lives under water.

Im interested in fish that arent just like small little guppy things, I want something that someone can look at and say WOW like theyve never seen it before. I looked up the axolotls and all I can say is WOW , ive never seen one before, very interesting. Ive also been looking for exos but its pretty expensive to get a huge shoal but its always a possibility. Thanks by the way for the replies.
