fighters guys..............not pullers

Those terms are very subjective. To some anglers a puller is the same as a fighter.

Whats the different between a YFT diving straight down or a sail skipping along the surface? They are both FIGHTING to get off the hook and PULLING out line.

Besides, the OP didnt specify hardest fight pound for pound or what.

Id rather tangle into a large shark on 15lb line on the same spinning outfight I also use for bass in FW and pompano in SW when given the chance. Pound for pound out of the three the pomps will damn near brake your wrists when they realize they are hooked so they are stronger...but wait...pomps and permits pull too...

i'll have to agree with pendog.Trying to reel in a 76 pound flathead on 50lb test on the ohio isn't easy.i fish the dam too,and when the locks are up,it feels like your reeling in a toyota.it took about an hour to bring it in,but totally worth the wait!He know lives happily in my pond.

There is a difference from a strong boring fish compared to a real fighting fish, I have heard mention of nurse sharks, and halibuts, not your spectacular fighters.

Catch a good sized bonefish or a big tarpon even a nice permit, those are fighters, not just "pullers".

Strong boring fish is an opinion. Obviously we have both "fighters" and "pullers" up north and each have their diehard fans. Beleive me there is nothing boring about a 200 lb halibut that sees the boat and dives down to the bottom yet again. Or a 80 lb halibut caught in 40 ft of water on 20 lb gear that instantly strips out 200 yards. 20 lb cohos flying through the air are great sport and 40 lb kings running you around the boat is awesome, but don't forget about the big guys. People paid me the same whether they tackeld the pullers or the fighters or both.

strongest fight was actually a 12" mayan cichlid in the canal only bcuase i put the rod down to set up another rod 5 feet away and when i came back it turns out he had swam with the hook in him for about 30 feet away on the edge of the canal, so i reeled and reeled and reeled and he pulled and darted under every rock on the way to me so i had to fight him out of every rock and through every tangle and got caught on everything. finally got him though, beautiful fish.

a big snook in a mangrove lined area, knowing you got to keep it from going into the mangroves.

I have seen big Mayans but never caught one they ignored my lures and bait. I heard they fight real hard.
my biggest cichlid was a big jag that fought lb for lb harder than big bass. I think the big cichlids fight the hardest.

Most HUGE cichlid here fight hard, much harder than realing in a 12" snapper imo. It has alot to with like my husband said, what obstacles u need to go through just to get the fish near u, avoiding treers, rocks, twigs, plants...all while the fish darting and tangling and pulling ino those things. i had to real in that mayan from 30 ft or so away...it was annoying nad hard.

The bigger cichlids u can get thm bite if they spawning or defending a home. They will bite just out aggression. Poke in the face enough with a lure and youll get attacked.
