Where did you catch it? I want to stay away from that area when i fish

I was at Fort Point near the Golden Gate Bridge. It shocked the hell out of me when I caught it. When I reeled it in, there was a department of fish and game officer there and she told me that it was legal to keep. Never knew that they were there. Caught it with squid but I think I snagged it while it was eating, The Doctor

When I lived in Guam we used to catch octopi spear fishing and eat them. Just don't try it in water deeper than you can stand up in if you don't have an air tank. They will grab your arm with half their appendages and hold onto the coral with the rest and hold you under. Even small ones are incredibly strong.

Wow, did it give you a big fight? I live in SF and i wanna start fishing more often. could you PM me some spots in the area that you enjoy if you get a minute?

On my first salt attempt, lured(literally)by all the sweet things available in the sf bay lfs' I ended up with a blue ring. Every morning I woke up I found him sucking the life out of a tank mate. One moring I got mad and scared him and he poofed. It fouled the entire tank. I was afraid to put my hand in since I couldn't find him anf waited like 4 weeks to do so...And, as a bay area resident, go check ranch 99, they sell huge live octopi. Google it.:headbang2

It was pretty small, maybe about 2lbs at the most. It didn't fight at all. I thought I had snagged some seaweed. If it was any bigger, I think I would've eaten it:drool:

I kept one when I was in my teens back in the mid 80's. I paid $45 for him which, at the time, seemed like a small fortune. Kept him in a 45 tall.

His head was a little larger then a quarter. I fed him market prawn and feeder fish. Had him for about 6 months until he escaped through a small gap where the two glass plates meet on the lid. The gap was smaller then a pinky nail.

He was a fascinating animal. Especially the instantaneous pigment and texture changes of his skin. Wasn't particularly hard to care for. At the time, all I had filtering the aquarium was a Magnum 350 hooked up to a UV sterilizer. Wet/Dry's and sumps where uncommon and expensive back then.
