I only use "lol" when I actually think something is funny. It gets on my nerves a little when people use it for no good reason, like "I like bichirs lol", but I don't think it really makes sense to stop using an acromnym just because a lot of other people use it. I hate it when people will say "lulz" in place of "lol", that doesn't make sense at all to me, what is that supposed to stand for "lighting up little zebras?" :screwy: I even know a few people who will say that in an actual conversation.
gtfo, lmao LOL:D:ROFL::j/k:

So it seems like nowadays the word "LOL" has pretty much replaced using a period at the end of a sentence. It's everywhere, even in thread titles. And it seems like most people can't type a sentence without using the word "LOL". I know even I'm guilty sometimes LOL ;) So what is this strange phenomena?

And why do we say "LOL". 98% of the time we aren't even laughing, but still feel compelled to tell the other party "LOL".

See what text messaging has done to our society?!?!?!?!?! LOL :D
Lol is a acronym it means laughing out loud.

usually it just means something is humorous, you don't actually have to laugh out loud.

Lol in my opinion is better used to replace starting a sentience with a capital letter than as a period Lol

Guess it works for a period also.

ive always been a huge fan of the ellipsis...

yess it has lol

It is funny that you made this thread!
I was just noticing the other day how much I type "lol" into texts, msn, facebook, here...and it has made me think twice about whether or not to type it in.

"Am I really laughing out loud? **check** no I am not. ok end with a period."
