I found out that fozen brine shrimp eggs can come back to life after being forzen.:screwy:

brine shrimp eggs are alive to begin with

but the eggs are in a state called Cryptobiosis, its when all metabolic functions completely stop.

they can remain in this state for several years while in dry oxygen-free conditions, even at temperatures below freezing.

yes, right, well, I keep my brine shrimp in a big 1.5L beaker where there is also some algae growing. I have sort of a microcosm sort of thing going on. I just siphon out a few babies or eggs when I need them.

i still got them alive in my tank after two months of me stop on putting frozen brine in the tank. my set up is a 40g breeder and 110g aquaclear and i do 30percent water change every week.

I have a couple of questions,1st does the salt mess up your water if you dont rinse off the shrimp?2nd is the salt bad for my fish??

Well, Ive been doing it this way for months now, to no ill effect. A bit of salt in the tank is good for most fish - after all, salt is recommended as a preventative against disease.
It's such a small amount, it gets very diluted once in your tank and concentrations will naturally diminish with water changes anyway.
If you're still in doubt, then do the paper filter rinse. It's not mush hassle and probably the "safest" way - nothing but live bbs enters your tank.

Doing a little bit of experimenting with the bbs this week. I've found that when you take the first harvest after 24 hrs, there are usually a lot of unhatched eggs at the bottom of the hatchery, so I've not siphoned everything out the first time, left maybe a third of the mix still in there.
Then, once I've sucked up most of the shrimp out of my "transfer jug"and fed them/froze them, pour the remaining water back into the hatchery and get it bubbling again.
Next day take another harvest. By this time more of the eggs will have hatched. I found you can do this one more time before you get nothing in return, giving you 3 days of fresh bbs for each hatching you do. Give it a try and let me know your results.

Im going to try hatching, got a can of nabs real cheap at an auction this week
this months tfh has an interesting article on reusing the water and hatch rates

Well, the set up I'm using shown here cost very little money and a bit of time and has worked every time (and it's satisfying to make something yourself). The only problem I've encountered was using out of date packets of bbs eggs/salt mix (sometimes referred to as "Artemia Mix"). As you can see, I use Sera brand mix, and it works great...24hrs to shrimp time!
