have anyone else felt this way

I felt that way when I lost a Midas to illness. I tried a few other fish after that including another Midas and they just did not have the same personality. I slowly lost interest and sold off everything.

Now after a 20 year absence in the hobby I got a new tank, another Midas that I really like and a new found interest in the hobby. I have at times felt limited by having just one tank because I want to keep so many different types of fish that just dont mix together. Plus the wife thinks one tank is enough. I probably will sneak in a fresh water nano upstairs in our study with a puffer.

Maybe you need something more challenging; A fish with a ton of personality or a breeding project. Whatever the case its a difficult decision when the time comes to get out of the hobby.

Watch a game of baseball tennis cards or golf on t.v. That'll get you interested in fish again LOL What you need is some rare plecos. Ive always had 1 tank set up for the last 40 years and never grew tired of it. Guess for me just like having a dog. When I moved I had to take my tank down for awhile and I really missed the sound of the water and filters. Trick for me just keep 1 tank setup and trade with lfs differant fish your interested in. Then again maybe this hobby is not for you anymore.

Get some fish that actually have some personality ex: oscars, medium sized cichlids (ex: cichlasoma, amphilophus, etc.), one of the large species of spiny eels, fahaka puffer, etc.

Are you on any illicit drugs? Because all the fish that he listed generally have tons of personality (minus the dats.) Especially the peacock bass.

I have never seen any of the fish he listed do anything particularly interesting (besides sevs, which are sometimes very personable). And no, I'm not on, have ever been, or will ever be on any kind of illegal/harmful drugs, heck I haven't even had a soda in over a year. ;)

I'm sure that's because your just watching youtube and looking at pics and have never kept either of the other two fish I mentioned.

No, I have seen all of the fish mentioned in person multiple times (though you are right about one thing, I have never owned any of them) and all of their personalities (again, excluding sevs) have been comparable to that of a silver dollar.
