Have anyone seen these before? , is the ray sick?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it looks like it could be some sort of infection in the denticles. or in the lateral line? this is just guesswork on my part

i see you have no substrate sand or gravel helps move stuff off the rays disk but i have to admit i have not seen this before

i would give the same advice as ever get some substrate rays do much better with it and get a UV for the price of them it cuts down the risk of problems

i have this on my rays as well, in symmetrical areas around the disc like patterning, each set at equal distances. around the eyes as well. i'm curious as to if it is due to the effects of keeping in hard water? my city water is complete crap. 20-24 grains per gallon of water hardness, with a local tds reading of 320+ depending on the given day. it is DISGUSTING!

are your rays in hard water as well?

Thanks, well I'm not very sure about the hardness of the water, but I have been keeping rays in the past as well, and this is the first time I ever see this on any of my Rays. I have two other rays in the tank right now with no signs of it. Its exactly like what you described, the warts is very cymetrical almost forming a pattern around the disc. The Ray is doing great, eating and very active so I dont know if I need to do anyting about it.

I have this on my retic and after 9 months of having it there have been 0 negative side affects. uploadfromtaptalk1336871093818.jpg
