Even a male wouldn't get up to 11" in just one year so I wasn't surprised to see the original poster say the fish was 5" a year ago...that's still faster than normal growth, imo, for a festae.

I think it's male because of the spangles all over the body and fins. And males get the bars during breeding or stress. Clean your glass and try taking a clear profile shot.
