i think its a male just showing real good colors right now. the pics in the first post look male plus you say its 11 inches. females only get 12 inhces max in the wild. i dont see a female getting 11 inches in a year.

Even a male wouldn't get up to 11" in just one year so I wasn't surprised to see the original poster say the fish was 5" a year ago...that's still faster than normal growth, imo, for a festae.

I think it's male because of the spangles all over the body and fins. And males get the bars during breeding or stress. Clean your glass and try taking a clear profile shot.
