About 3 years ago I got a new neighbor. I helped her move in some of her things. I invited her for a few beers the following weekend. She saw my tanks and asked me if I would like to have a 75 gallon. Her and her husbond were going through a divorce. I said hell yeah and we went the following week to pick it up. It was just the tank stand and 2 power heads. It was free and it held water for the few years I had it. Then I down sized into another apartment and gave it to a friend.

An acquaintance of my Grandma had a tank that used to have lizards in it. I went over to to their place and happened to see it sitting on the deck. I asked my Grandma to ask if they were selling it and they said I could have it for FREE! I'm not sure on the size as it is odd shaped but it will do nicely for my ball python :)

I won a 55 at a local club raffle came with ugf air pump, light, and stand. 3 Months later at the same club's public auction I won another 55, with light and stand. Not bad for 10 bucks worth of tickets.

A woman overheard my friend talking to the owner of an LFS about purchasing a tank. She said that she had a tank at her house that she didn't want. She wasn't sure of the size. She gave a rough estimate with her arms. So we took the 1.5hr trip to her house, hoping that it wasn't a 30 gal tank waiting for us. To our surprise she had a drilled 75gal. with a wet/dry filter and wooden stand and hood. She also had a hex 40gal with stand, filter and hood. My friend kept the 40 and I ended up with the 75 set up. It's a great freebie tank.

Got a free 50 long with all the trimmings, stil in use, but now as my smaller hospital tank!

Got a 90 glass for $60 and $50 for an acrylic/glass 90 with euro bracing. Craigslist finds.

saw a free 220 gallon w/ stand on CL about a month back, but I have no room even to store it if i were to try to sell it. was very sad :|
