I would never trust that tank again, and what about the loss of the fish..nothing makes up for that.. what a nightmare..but still i am glad he did not have that one fixed.. :D And got a new one!

I can't remember the number of tanks I've had break, blow out, crack, or pop seams on me. But, it's been quite a few starting with slate-bottom steel-framed tanks on up to acrylics. The most recent is this blown 285gal. You can see how much water was lost by the fill line. When it blew, the force of the water moved a steel tank base and blew the hatchery door open. Water shot 10 ft out the door into the yard. Also, I was standing at the front right corner and caught alot of the water on myself after the one second 'tick..tick' warning before the side blew out.

That would have been a scary exercise especially being right next to it.:WHOA:

sleeping one night wife asked whats that strange noise, walk out to find back of small 30 litre tank cracked and water everywhere, lucky it crack 2 inches from bottom so fish survived. the noise was the power head running with no water to cool. fish were pair of barramundis just over an inch each. repaired tank by placing new thincker glass over old glass and holding in position. filled it a week later and that night it cracked again almost exactly the same spot. it was still out in the shed with no fish. still out there thinking of turning into a plant tank..... no water.
