Have you ever lost a fish?

I lost a discus(red turquoise) once. Before I don't put any covers in my aquarium just because I wasn't aware that discus could jump! My routine is to count my fish (since I am new to the hobby :D) first thing in the morning, if there are deaths etc.. They were supposed to be 9 but I only counted 8! wtf!? I thought someone must have robbed me! haha later on I found out that my missing fish was stuck at the back of the aquarium. (I assumed of course it jumped) since that day, I always put covers in my tank just in case.

Yes, one of my bettas went missing. Even stranger, I had no cat or dog to eat the betta if the betta managed to jump. I never found a dead body in or out of the tank.

Took all the caves and rockwork out of my pleco tank. Put it all in a bucket. caught all plecos and sold them. Tonight returned some rockwork to the tank and noticed a lil peckolita dried up in the bucket. happened tonight. That fish was lost.Bummer

So far I've lost three tetras, a few lampreys, and a small yellow bullhead catfish.

I'm pretty sure that the little RTC that I used to have got the tetras, and I think that the yellow bullhead catfish got eaten by my old TSN. I can't figure out where the lampreys went for the life of me; I didn't find them when I removed the sand from their aquarium, and I didn't smell the smell of dead fish, so I have no idea what happened to them.

not me personally, but had a friend lose a 8" spiny eel... it just went missing one day and he said he couldn't find it for days and gave up... till this day its a mystery what happened to his fish...

the one time i bought a peacock.. added it to my tank and after about ten minutes couldnnt find it... about 4 weeks later of just assuming it was "gone" i was doing a w/c and BAM it comes swimmin to the front!

Lost a Botia kubotai or two... I've had ninja loaches disappear for a month or two and reappear, but I did a tank tear down and relocated the group to a bigger tank and a couple were missing. I do have a cat though... :D

Yes, I have lost fish before, and never found out their fate.

I'd rather they never disappeared to begin with, but I really enjoy finding a fish ALIVE in a tank where I thought they had been eaten or jumped and disappeared. I've also heard some crazy stories of this happening... Months of never seeing a fish and then one day it's out swimming looking fat and healthy. :D
