i was hit by a car once..walked away without a scratch

..and went into respiratory arrest..i was clinically dead for 28 seconds..spent 2 weeks in the hospital..scary times

Seven years ago I was driving home from a friends house late one night. An on coming car ran me out of the road. At about 60 mph my truck jumped a large ditch and hit a bank on the other side. It was a dead stop. When I woke up I noticed the top of the steering wheel was touching the steering column (I later noticed it had my teeth prints in it). I looked in the rear view mirror, all four of my bottom teeth were sticking through my bottom lip. My lip was also tore loose from my chin below where my teeth came through. It took 35 stitches to close it all up. I now wear a goatee all the time.

Don't think I came too close to dieing, but it was a wake up call.

oh, remembering more now.
when i was little i was sitting on a radiator, the old-@$$ steel kind, well i slipped and hit my head really bad on the top corner of it and part of my skull lodged in my brain.
not near death but i bit off part of my tounge in a water polo game (after that mouthguards were allowed)

One time when I was about 9, I came pritty close. Me and my buddy were playing in the woods below my house. Way up the hill above where we were, two old women got in a Ford LTD. Apparently the woman driving thought she was in drive but she was in neutral, and it never occurred to her to hit the brakes. She rolled about 75 yards down a very steep hill, across another road and the car went airborne. If it had not hit a tree about 6 feet away from where me and my friend were playing it would have landed on top of both of us.

The car didn't make a sound, and we didn't have a clue it was coming until seconds before it hit the tree. It scared me so bad when it hit that I ran and dove through tree limbs and bushes. Many of them had thorns. It pritty much shredded me from head to toe. I didn't feel a thing though, adrenaline is amazing.

This past summer I became ill with flu like symptoms. Im the kind of guy that doesnt go to the doctor unless my guts are hanging out. Well anyway about 36hours later I had a temperature of 105 and needless to say I went to the ER. There I had two spinal taps (the first one hurt like a ***** cause the ER doc didnt know what he was doing). Well they couldnt find out was wrong with me and set me up in a room. I was in extreme pain that night and didnt know why. Well fastforward another 24hours I was having rapid kidney and liver failure. My body swelled up like a water balloon, I was yellow, I couldnt move, my eyes were popping out of my head so much I couldnt even close them. I also had sever pneumonia.

Needless to say I ended up in the ICU for a few days still rapidly declining and the doctors still had no idea what I had. I was in extreme pain and on a medication called dilladid (I cant spell it) which is 7x stronger then morphine being pumped into me every hour or so or when I was able to push the button. Of course while I was in the ICU I was out and had no idea what was going on. The doctors told my family to have plans ready cause of how fast I was declining and the fact they didnt know why. Well they knew it was some kind of infection but not what or how to treat it.

Meanwhile I had family from all over the country fly or drive through the night to be with me.

Finally a specialist was able to get to the hospital and diagnosed me with this bacterial infection that is very rare and usually deadly. Its from insect bites and Im only the 2nd person in my state to ever get it. Fortunately when it was diagnosed and the antibiotic was given the recovery was VERY fast and I was out of the hospital with 72hours of treatment. I looked very bad though. My skin was still all yellow from the liver failure and my eyes looked dead cause when they were swollen all of the blood vessels popped leaving me looking really nasty.

Anyway that is as close as I came to death. Oh and in my last day in the hospital I asked the nurse for that strong pain med even though I didnt really need it. Holy **** did that stuff ever make me see things!! It was crazy!

yes two times.

1- a speeding car almost got me but a friend pulled me back.

2-i almost fell off a 2 story roof,my brother got my back on that 1.

my subdural hematoma seems so trival compared to some of the things that has happened to some of you guys. I'm not religous but I thank 'whoever is up there' every night, for the life, family and friends i have. Don't forget to count your blessings.

this is a part of my autobiography that i did for english class. it is titled "My Worst Day Ever". the first part is dumb, but i needed to burn the page, so i filled it with crap. lol.
My Worst Day Ever

My worst day ever was actually today, that is, Saturday, March 10, 2007. The reason for this is that I first was faced with the decision of whether or not to go to my sister’s ringette game. I found this to be a tough decision because when I said that I didn’t really want to go, my mom (the coach of the team) and my sister made me feel guilty about it. Then later on in the day, my brother and I were outside playing catch, and because he hasn’t played ball in a while and was rusty, he missed quite a few of my not-that-bad throws. So he decided that I should have to run for a ball. He then chucked the ball over my head and into the half frozen creek behind me, and made me get the ball. I went over to the other side of the creek that the ball was closer to, and found a stick that I used to try to get the ball out with. Seeing as the snow had just started to melt the day before, the ground was very soggy and I slipped a little bit, not into the creek, but close. So I told Blake to get me a rake that I could use to get the ball out with. He left and then came back with a shovel, and asked me if it would do. I told him to get a rake, and he just left me there alone. After about a minute of trying with the stick again, I slipped, and I fell all the way in this time. As soon as I hit the near-freezing water my lungs stopped working and my muscles froze up. I stopped trying to breathe in and exhaled instead, relaxing myself a bit, and then I preceded to call for help. After I got my lungs working I worked on moving my arms and legs so I could try to climb out of the creek myself. I started to claw at the river (creek) bank, but the muddy dirt just kept falling away from the bank. I then decided that I needed to use my legs if I was ever going to get out of there. I found some decent grip on the creek’s bottom, and started to climb out. I got all of my body out of the water and I fell back in. I tried again, but found that the bottom of the creek was as frozen and slippery as the ice that covered half of the water’s surface. Finally my sister came from around the house and saw me in the water. Coming right behind her was my Dad. He took his coat off and told me to grab his leg. I did and finally managed to get out of the water after slipping in for a final time. Then my Dad wrapped his coat around me and took me inside. Luckily, my mom had just finished her bath and hadn’t drained the water from the tub yet, so I got in the tub and I immediately felt better. The only problem, was that after 30 minutes in the tub, my ring and pointer fingers and the tip of my middle finger on my right hand were still numb. Then I found that I had dirt from the river bank under my nails. This was the worst day of my life, however I learned that I should never go near a creek during the winter, especially alone. I also realize that I am very lucky that I didn’t slip all the way under the ice, because then no one would even know that I was gone until I was dead.
P.S. The ball is still in the creek. That thing cost me eight bucks!

this story isn't as bad as some of the others on here, but it was still scary.

I've scorned a woman, and hell hath no fury like....
