I haven't seen a sturgeon in a LFS in about 13 years. Have been looking for 1 since. Interesting article though.

Anyway newsflash guys...Sturgeon is a controlled fish now...and not allowed to be used in aquatic hobby trade anymore....

Depends on the species and where you are, sterlets, siberians, and stellates are legal in many places and are farm cultured. Here in Oregon Greens are not allowed to be kept but Whites fall under gamefish laws and may be kept between 42" and 72" from the Columbia river and 42"-60" elsewhere, however you may only posses 2.

I saw a small,about 6" sturgeon in a petstore about 12 years ago what a cool little fish looked like a little prehistoric monster.
