Having others take care of your fish.

Heard that. I came home last week from vacation to see all my red belly piranhas very close to death after having one of the neighbors watch my fish for me. My filter was not working when I got back and I could not see anything in my tank. Pretty sure he just dumped my whole container of food in my tank at once and clogged my filter, after I specifically showed him how to feed my fish. I spent the next 3 hours frantically trying to save my fish and thankfully succeeded. Needless to say, my neighbor won't be recieving any thanks or compensation from me. I feel better now after that rant. haha

I only would trust one person to look after my fish besides my parents and that would be minnowmagnet he lives close to me and respects my fish almost as much as I do

The only person I would trust is my dad who got me into this hobby in the first place......

Unless you're going to be gone longer than a week or so it's better just not to have anyone feed them at all. Maybe have someone check to make sure the filters are running but hide the fishfood so they don't get tempted to feed. The fish will be fine without food for a week.

I had my grandma take care of my bichir once.
I just told her to come over once a day and check the tank temperature, and make sure the filter wasn't clogged. I gave my fish feeders because it was easier than explaining how to feed her.
When I came back, my grandma showed me the bite marks all over her hand from when she tried to take the bottle my fish hid in out because a feeder was hiding in there...which of course my bichir guarded with her life. To quote her "Your fish is the meanest little monster I've ever seen, I went to take the little fish out and WHAM it's on my hand and rolling around!"
To be honest, it was a pretty nasty little mark on her hand, I can only imagine how horrifying it was to have a 6" "snakeyfish" deathrolling your thumb.

Marth: That is a fake story. Pretty obviously.

I never let anybody take care of my fish, bichirs can go without food for long, temp stays normal..

I have had bad experience off making people take care of my fish....

How is it fake? My grandma does this sort of stuff all the time. I was having problems with my thermometer.

I had my dad take care of my fish once, came back the filter was clogged and they were all dead but 3 :(. He's gotten better now, Im not even sure if it was his fault excluding the filter clogging cause I'm pretty sure one fish had ich that spread to the rest and he didnt realize or have known what to do
