Well I think myself very fortunate to find a Hawaiian Dragon Moray Eel online for 450$. I was thinking of putting it in my 125g, but I was informed on another site that they would outgrow my 125g quickly. I'm leaving for college in 4 years and I'll have to take the tank down then either way. The eel is 12-16" long. Will it outgrow my tank? Should I just get a 180g in a year or two?

Dude, take it from a teenager. I'm a sophomore, I only keep reptiles for now. I joined this site due to my interest in SW predators. Yeah I have some 'dream fish' a dragon one of them. If youre going to college, get small, easy to move animals, or otherwise have a place for them where you can get them back. But DO NOT get it, get tired of it, and dump it! Especially not such a MAGNIFICENT animal such as a hawaiian dragon. Go ahead and get it. If you honestly have the experience, time, and money, go right ahead, youre in for a treat. If not, spare the poor thing and wait till after college. Right now I keep geckos, bearded dragons, and some small snakes and such, and after college I hope to have enough experience, time, and money to get into the bigger/dangerous/expensive ones. Use your head.

+ If you get bit, its gonna hurt like hell. See those teeth? Those ain't no crab crunchers like Gymnothorax.

Where did you find this exactly? Such a 'miracle' deal is probably a scam waiting to happen. Nothing wrong with bargain hunting, just get the best animal you can and the best life for it.

Take the word from a teenager who knows what hes talking about.

Wow I didn't expect this kind of response to be honest. In my opinion, if the tank is big enough, the eel is happy, your parameters are good, and your feeding the fish right, you shouldn't have any problems. This eel was on ebay. It is no longer posted because it is either sold or the time is up. This guy gets them directly from Hawaii where he is at. If this deal comes again, then I'll go for it. I will hopefuly upgrade in 1-2 years if I do that.

Don't make a 20 year plus commitment unless you can PROPERLY (NOTICE IN CAPS PROPERLY) care for the beast for its entire life.

Is eBay allowed to sell live animals?

Well I'm not like most teenagers. I don't want the next big cool thing just because I'll be a badass. I care for others more than myself, animals included.

But good luck with whatever choice you make, just don't be stupid. Show pics if you get a dragon, or anything else. Dragons are truly wondrous creatures.

Speaking of dragons, anyone going to see Dragon Wars this weekend?

Well trust me, I'm going to do plenty of research. I have done plenty on keeping octipi and sharks and rays, so I think the whole meaty foods and secure tank won't be that much different. Of course I'll post pics, I think I'll get extremely camera happy if I get this amazing animal. Also I'm not one of those teenagers either. I work for my money, not like most teenagers my age. I think the eel will be in good hands, and I will upgrade if I can find an affordable option to do so. Also I have heard a guy say it wouldn't most likely outgrow my tank because it does take a while for it to max out it's length.

Well I hope you dont do the whole 'aquarium stunting' deal. Bigger is better.

But wow, you had octopi? What species? Any pics? How were they? I've always wanted to try one after some experience. I'm trying for a peacock mantis before college, shouldnt be hard to move if I have to. Then maybe a small reef, medium predator tank... Then the advanced stuff when I have a job and way older... How were your sharks and rays too? Man I want to see what you had (have?)!

Sorry I'm not giving much fish-specific info. Thats not my strong point in animal care, but I always have plenty of my animal-keeping philosophy to share. Or reptile stuff, I can anwer just about anything lol. But yeah, I work for my money, and I have to spend it wisely. Theres always that nintendo Wii in the back of my mind when I have money to spend lol. But by the end of the year, I should have about 450 or so saved up, then I'm taking a 2 week summer job at a nature camp as a counselor and I get 500, so I'm spending it on a pair of red ackies (ridge tailed monitor lizards). Fish come later, so do birds, exotic mammals, and inverts. After I'm satisfied with my reptile collection for a length of time, I'm trying for a hedgehog or sugar glider, an antilles pinktoe tarantula or some emperor scorps, and maybe a bird of some kind like a sun conure. Anyway, its ALWAYS good to state your situation, setup, and experience before you ask a question like this. You'll stir up a whole mess, and I know from experience.

Typo: I said dragons ain't no crab crunchin gymnothorax somewhere up there. I think they are Gymnothorax, and Echidna is the genus of the crustacean eaters.

Well I've only kept a dwarf octo once in a 20g, no pics because it never came out much for a good pic, and I've only done tons of research on sharks and rays and other species of octopi. I was going to save for a 280g shark tank, but figured I'd wait till after college.

Well because of many reseasons, one being so much conteversy whether it's too big for a 125g or not, I'm going to settle with some snowflakes and a zebra. I'm going to move my corals and shrimp over and I may get a small snowflake soon because I'll get it small enough where hopefuly he won't try to harm my chromises or lawnmower blenny or coral beauty angelfsih.

My stocklist for the 125g FOWLR will be:
1-2xSnowflake Eels
1xZebra Eel
1xEmperor Angelfish (Changing)
1xPuffer
1xRadinta Lionfish
1xBlack Hawiian Trigger(or Crosshatch trigger pair)
and maybe 1x Harquelin Tusk
