under a bridge in fl
this hawk is always in the backyard or neighbors yard eating birds, squirrels, mice.
seen him on the power line today.
waited, then he flew down and grabbed a mouse.
i could hear the mouse screaming.
then i went out to get pics.
hawk kept lookin over so i looked and there was a cat staring at the hawk.
hawk probably just ate the cats dinner.
then i got a bright idea to get rid of some tilaps.
so i went and got one.came back and threw it in the yard,
he looked away just before i threw it
then the fish landed to close to the fence so i had to go get it,
and i spooked the hawk away. :(
wanted to get a video of me throwing a fish and him swoop down and grab it.
i "will" get this vid tho,he is always around. :D
hopefully i can train him to stop by and take my unwanted fish :headbang2
pics of him munching on the mouse

I think that's a falcon. Cool birds none the less.

I couldn't tell. Looks mad though, When me and my dad go hunting for sport wedge tailed eagles come from kilometers just to eat it's carcass, There will be 5 at any one time.

you bastard...

That's pretty cool...awesome looking bird.

I have an interesting story along these lines.

I work in Boston, MA, and this past Tuesday was the Red Sox World Series rally in town, so the T (public transportation) was PACKED. When I was getting out of work I decided to walk instead of take the T to avoid the crowds...I'm glad I did.

I got to the Haymarket area and I see this HUGE Golden Eagle tearing apart a city rat that is probably about twice the size of my cat. I got a few pics with my phone that came out pretty bad. I was amazed that I would see this bird hunting in downtown Boston!!

I don't know if that's a good thing though...slim pickings??

This is what it looked like:

that's so cool to see birds hunting. When I was trout fishing one time there were two bald eagles circling and a falcon and we were feeding them fish all day. They came within about 15 from our boat. IT WAS AWESOME.

Once the falcon got a trout and the eagle came flying from all the way across the lake in an attack mode and the falcon just dropped the fish and got the hizzy OUT. Then the eagle swooped down and snatched it up.

WHen they fly in real close you can hear the wind just tearing through their wings..........very cool.

HOLY CRAP!!!!! Those are huge birds. You're lucky getting to see one in action. I didn't think that Goldens lived on the east coast. Midnight, that is a falcon. Hawks stand more upright. Personally I think that the falcon you saw is cooler than a hawk.

I had a hawk land outside of my window a few months ago. I think it was a broad shoulder. When I went to get the ID manual he found a squirrel that was in our neighbor's yard and took off after it (obviously it wasn't Oddballer). Well, I came back to ID it, and he was gone from the branch and there was a blood splatter on the rock where the squirrel was with some fur. Luckily I got apicture of him.

I wasn't sure of their native area either so I just started researching whenever I could. This is what I found to be their range in the wild:
