im watching it now.... personally call me heartless but i dont care... i buy my clean meat at the store and thats it i eat it and move on with my life... 99% of the time like said in the show this is how things have been done for years..

From the point of view of the film, the hanging of the hoggs was cruelty because thats how they dispposed of sick hoggs, this was not the method they used for slaughter. From this stand point I would say that this was the most economical way of going about killing the animal. My main issue was why they didnt treat the animal before it became this ill, they went on and on about how the pigs are money to them but you would think a lost dead pig is worthless compared to a healthy one. Other than that and the treatment of the piglets when they were being tossed from bin to bin, I dont think things could have been done much differantly without compromising the proffit of the investor. Meat is murder, but its the way of life, what can you do????

So? Did you know sheep farmers cut off the tails of their sheep with no anesthetic? Just grab the lambs and cut off their tails with axes so they don't get crap on their tails so it ruins there wool. The property me and my father hunt on is a sheep farm, they did that a few days before we were there and the ground was still red from the blood. Did you know for the most part Australian farmers cull the Roos, pigs, dingoes, foxes and dogs from their land completely? That's life.

on a lighter note. Pork tastes good.

it might be different there but in the states most tails are docked using a little very tight rubber band. the end of the tail dies and then just falls off eventually. just whacking it off with an ax is a terrible way to do it because there would be a higher chance of infection with the open wound. while it might seem inhumane docking tails is better for the over all health of the animal because they can get build up of poo inbetween the wool, butt, and tail and this can result in maggots which can begin to eat the live flesh of the animal...talk about painful and bad for your health.

maggots only eat dead flesh... this is why they are used on people for medical reasons...
