Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 , you should step up to Safe instead of Prime. More bang for the buck. It is basically Prime in a powdered form.

clm08k clm08k , what is your regular water change routine? Does this inclde a gravel vac? Not that the the fish dont require medicine but for me step one whenever I see anything of concern is clean water. Many times I will do about 1/3 water changes that include gravel vacs every day for about a week straight. Removing all the detritus and providing clean water can do wonders.

As mentioned dont mess with the PH, most aquarium fish will adapt to the PH out of your tap without an issue.

Thanks, DMD123 DMD123 . I will allow the fish to adjust to the pH. In other good news, I can rehome the pike tomorrow.

regular water change routine:
weekly: is remove 1/3 of the water+ gravel vac, scrub algae. 1/3 for me is ~15 gallons. It's a 55gal tank. I do that 1x a week. Is it a possibility I'm cleaning the tank too often?
monthly: scrub decorations, change filter cartridges, and scrub out HOB filter. Still need to get poly fil to replace carbon cartridges. Should I change the cartridges and scrub filter tomorrow I'm guessing? How much water- if any-should I change tomorrow before doing the prazipro?

Made by SeaChem just like prime. Highly concentrated so you barely use any. I use 1/4 teaspoon for water chages for the 300.
Info for you, http://www.seachem.com/safe.php

Gonna exchange the acid buffer for this or Prime. I think my tank is too small for safe. Never knew about any of these products, DIY projects, or poly facts before this forum. Yay learning! You guys are the best! It's nice going into the fish store and talking to the experts and non-experts, like I kinda knew what I was talking about ;)

I do twice a week water change, 20% wednesday and only scrub the glass, 50% water change on sunday and scrub and vacuum the gravel. So if your question is that your cahnging water to often then no, your doing a good job but since you only do it once a week, i recommend do a 50% to 60% water change.
When dosing prazipro i do 75% water change before putting the prazipro, i do it two days and do a 30% water change. I do prozipro once every two months just for prevention and i do it when adding a new fish especially wild caught ones. Since i dont have a QT i put the new fish in a cooler for 24hrs to 48hrs. With a doze of prazipro, and when i put them in the main tank i put prazipro in the main tank too.

Prime and safe you dont really need to worry about over dosing, just do 1/4 or less tbls on yours when you decide to use seachem safe. Prime you only need one cup of the bottle and its for 50g, if it was me ill do 1 cup and 1/4 cup on prime.
