health care

working with doctors and nurses everyday, i can say that they really do try to do the best they can-IMO the breakdown isnt in their care-but in the beurocratic crap that goes with healthcare! there is no backup of the worker-we have noone to stand behind us if we try to make a drastic decision to help the patient, and we lose our licenses for it. i know the healthcare system needs remade from the bottom up- there are waaay too many patients to nurses ratio-and its dangerous for everyone.

i could go on forever at what needs done-and insurance itself is outrageous to pay on monthly and the coverage isnt that great. i pay 80 bucks for a vial to get allergy shots-i used to pay about nothing.. that adds up to an expensive allergy bill and i get shots weekly.

uggh. .

I work in insurance and I can tell you first hand that insurance is saving you HUGE HUGE. If you didnt have it, doctors could charge you what ever they wanted (and they should). What insurance does, is not only cover those huge medical costs but an in network physician has contracted rates they can charge you. For example that allergy vial could be charged to you what ever the allergist wants to charge you, instead you have a set price of $80.

Another example, most standard x-rays are billed at around $150, most contracted rates with my company for the same x-ray is about $30.

You may say that, that is fair to the doctors but most physicians will benefit from insurance companies too because being contracted with certain companies will bring them patients. There is a reason that the specialty, specialists will not be contracted with many or any insurance companies as the service they may offer is so rare that people that will need their service will come to them no matter what. Also instead of a patient potentially not being able to pay (it happens ALOT) an insured patient to a doctor is pretty much a guaranteed check.

Another thing many people dont realize is that historically employers have been paying a major percentage of your premium. As companies are cutting corners as much as they can, the percentages they are paying for your premium is going down and down.

Insurance does suck. It sucks when you dont need it, but when you do, it sure comes in handy!! Its a gamble.

If you want your blood to boil think of how much health insurance costs and what it covers vs your car insurance and what little good it does. :WHOA:

America by far has the worst health care system.. You have to supply your own insurance.

Mine is $17 dollars a week. If I get hurt or need to see a doctor I only pay 15 dollars.

Insurance will pay anything for me up to $500,000 anually. If I go over that... I'm screwed.. which hopefully I never will.

Hey Eskimo: Brain-Drain....

End of convo. That is why we have (and will always have) the best health care in the world...

Why should you not be responsible for yourself?

When other countries have a much better system. Ours ends up looking kind of sad in my opinion.

I'm not really complaining.. I just know things could be better.

They could be a hell of a lot worse too. I don't like the idea of paying for alcoholic smoking fat asses. I also like the idea of development and competition.

The United States of America is a Beauraucratic Monarchy. Not a Republic, not a Democracy. The Machine ties up anything that helps real people, especially those less fortunate.

If only America would put its citizens before its economy. I might like it here.

Edit: the Greeks would recognize our government immediately as a Monarchy. The Greeks often elected Kings for set periods of time.

Right on man.
I completely get your point.

The best part of how America runs its health care is it makes the industry competitive. It forces people to work their hardest, because if they aren't the best they wont make any money. I know prices are ridiculous, but doctors went to school for many years and they deserve to be payed well. After all the insurance they pay to keep them safe from lawsuits they really aren't making that much. I believe the US should cut spending everywhere and try to pay back out debts. It will never happen, but how things are going now, the future generations will be badly screwed over by the amount of debt they are left with. I believe we need to create more jobs and in doing so hopefully get our country back on its feet. Right now it looks like we're screwed but eventually it will get better. Well, I guess all we can do now is sit back and see how it all plays out. Or at least that's all I can do, seeing how I cant vote, lol.
