Heater problems - Fluval E300 watt. LOW Flow???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sore about losing debates? Sure, ok, you win. LOL

I thought about a Ranco, Johnson Controls, or Inkbird controller but each had complaints and didn't seem to be an improvement over a good heater with an electronic thermostat so I never bothered.

I currently have 4 inkbirds setup with the first one being setup a little over two years ago, never had any problem with them. They are a major improvement in temperature stability in my opinion.

I decided to try removing the guard as a last attempt and so far it looks like it's working better.

I noticed there was a lot of gunk inside the guard which may explain why it wasn't reading properly. Definitely not the best design on fluval's part.

I'm going to monitor it for a while. Hopefully that does the trick. If not I might grab one of those ink birds and give it a go.

Don't think they are very good .I have a 300w in 2 of my 300 lt tank's and every winter I have to add another heater to the tank's to get the temp right .In my third 4ft tank I have a cheap inter pet heater that heats the water to the desired setting yet these expensive fluval heaters can'.t

Did you remove the guards?

no I am just going to replace them one at a time I need the guard as my rainbow shark likes graze on the heater guard where algae builds up.

may try some of the eheim ones with my interpet heater I have an after market guard on it and can still heat the aquarium. was looking at the reviews on amazon and there some chinese ones that were over heating the aquariums and wipeing out the fish it was the same heater being sold but had diffrent names but you could see by the photo's it was the same heater
