I was working on my tank today and realized that my heater was damaged. It kept shocking me.

I have the heater shut off. I live in the middle of nowhere...I am literally a few hours from anywhere!!

There is a chocolate cichlid, TSN, and a couple of Africans in the tank. I know the temperature is going to drop and cant replace the heater for a bit.

Any suggestions?

The weather is about 60 at night and gets in the 70's during the day.

How big is your tank? what kind of filtration?

Temperature is staying constant. Pretty surprised.

Might be alright. Glad that this did not happen in the winter.

Thanks for the responses. I will be able to pick up a new heater on monday. Everyone wish me luck.

Maybe to get the temp stabilized in the morning do a 50% wc with water a couple ° warmer, although to much fluctuation will cause more stress then benefit!

But adjusting ur thermostat like suggested above ^ is by far ur best bet, up it 3-4°.

Either way water changes are always a good idea and will minamize stress gl

Theres a good chance theres a walmart within a couple hours. If your fish matter that much then there will be a cheap heater waiting for you
