Heater shocking me!! Emergency

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any mishap wih a heater or any electrical equitment can be avoided with a GROUNDING PROBE! 15-30$ at ur lfs or online, i got a titanium one a few months back after my circulator was leaking ac current. All it does is ground the tank!

A very smart buy imo!

I would suggest aginst this

Grounding probe will reduce voltage, not current

Current kills, voltage is the potential of the current

This^ also it doesn't actually reduce the voltage, grounding the tank just removes the difference of potential so you can't measure the voltage. Adding a ground probe to a tank with stray AC current introduces current into the tank. If you are going to use a groud probe the only safe way to do it is to also install a GFCI protected outlet.

I drove two hours to pick up a new heater. On my way back. Before leaving temp had only dropped a few degrees.
