Yes,and you should be concern if you have a bad character of fish,like arapaima,cichla,or arowana.
They can hit the water heater when they catch the goldfish.
And it cause your water full of electricity if it breaks.

I suggest you put the water heater in your sump filter If you have it.it will be more safe.

Pretty sure oscaroo isn't running a sump. The sump is a good idea but bumps up the electric bill

Actually my electrical usage went down when I switched from HOB's to a sump. Depends on the setup... Oscaroo don't you own a large pleco?

No he died, the guy who sold us a tank on Craigslist sold me an overstocked tank. So because it was overstocked the pleco died from columnaris. I do have a small albino long finned briselnossed pleco though.
