Running 3 stealths right now (two 250's on my 150-gallon) and a single 250 on a 22-gallon, never had problems with them.

I have used a single 250-watt on a 45-gallon tank for almost 4-years before tearing the tank down.

I really miss the light on the heaters for some piece of mind, the only reason I have considered Jagers vers Stealths is for the light and quality.

I hear there NOT FULLY submersible so that keeps me away from them.

I always keep all my tanks filled ALL the way, not to hijack the thread, but is this true?? What is the deal with this?
i dont know about that but my jager ..i put it in the sump full sub and it work fine

Stealth and Aqueon has life time/ ebo has only 1 year warranty. I have an Aqueon and it has not giving me any issues.

Actually most of aqueon products are pretty good IMO.

jagers are fully submerisble. they are required by law to print a water line on them in order to get UL certification in the states and CSA approval in Canada.

so, if you buy a jager heater in north american, it has a water line.

if you buy one in Europe, it doesn't.

both heaters are identical.

but the north american ones have to put the line on there to get the electrical approval standards, even though they are fully submersible like the ones in europe..

Everyone seems to still use in tank heaters, why not the in line external types? I recently used the Hydor ETH in line on my canister and love the fact I have no visible heater in the tank. There is nothing for fish to burn themselves on or break. It does have its disadvantages in that it needs to be placed on a 1/2" tubing (vertically) and can not be hard plumbed in but it sure seems like a nice alterntive to traditional in tank heaters.

I like my stealth its about 4 years old now, for about 6 months I had it in a 10 gallon, while doing some remodeling....(250w) It never overheated the tank and still works great back on the 55 now....thermometer hasnt varied from 80 in 1 month and its in a room that fluctuates wildly...it is only really heated in the evening when I come on the computer and watch some TV. Other then that the room temp is 60ish. Unlike any glass heater ive ever had my fish dont attack it when the light comes on. Oscars esp. used to attack them and break them. I also like the way the suction cup clips are on the stealth they are very solid and stay attached better then any ive ever had.

+1 The Hydor in line heater is great. Nothing to stick in your tank, and temperature stays dead steady.

Yeah my 3 yr old ebo is on the way out....seems to stay on allllllllll the time and with just setting up this 90 I am concerned about keeping temps steady. I am planning on running down to the fish place and picking up an inline heater.
