I agree i use 2 200w jebo in my 180g and the tank is in my basement in Canada. Maintains set temp with no problems. And if one heater does fail it is not as likely to kill your fish. If say you had 1 400w fail.Potts050;2588275; said:Now this is good advice. See the thread link:

I have a 50 gallon tank near a window that had a 300w stealth heater in it that could not keep the temp above 74 degrees (and it was working and hot). I had to add another 100 watt heater on the other side of the tank to get the temp up to 82. Ambient room temperature was 60ish.
I would always recommend a quality heater, preferably not glass (unless you have a sump, then if you get a quality one, you should be safe).
