So I just got a 125 and need to get heaters. Id like to not be able to see the heaters so inline would be ideal. I plan on getting a fx5 filter and have looked into the hydor 300 watt heaters for it. Problem is I've read you need two 300 watt heaters for a 125. So I guess my question is would one hydor 300 watt inline heater with a spray bar be enough? If not anyone have any tips on hiding submersible heaters? Two canisters is out of the question right now. Anyway thanks in advance.

depends if you keep the room at 68 degrees or above,,, 1 300 watt heater should do it (with good circulation)

I have a black background with the heater in open ended black pvc, Drilled holes for more flow

Hmm good idea I've already painted my background black. Although if the one inline would heat it then that would be even better. Does anyone have any experience with the 300 watt hydor inline heater or even know what I'm talking about?

Initially, I wanted to order a 300 watt Ebo for my 125 gal but it is too tall to fit my tank, so I settled with a 250 watt. I was counting on adding a second heater to provide enough heat, but to my surprise, a single 250 watt is enough to hold the tank temperature at 76F. My room temperatue is set between 65 and 68F.

When it comes to selecting heater, do not oversize as stuck heaters can cook the fish. I like Ebo because it is the most durable brand I ever had. When I read the Ebo instructions, it only recommends 250 watt for 125 gal tank, which is lower recommendation than other brands. Maybe Ebo are made differently allowing lower wattage for delivering the same amount of heat.

Not sure if you can see it....Pvc is easy to cut
