FINE!!!

As you can see, I didnt retain anything from my physics 2 course.

Oh, and you could make a metal coil that returned the hot water to the tank, and dip the coil in the water, but you would need a valve hooked to a thermostat so that you could control the temperature. I would also have a power head pushing water over the coil, so that you wouldnt have a hot pocket form next to the coil.

But that really seems like a pain in the butt.
Truly the best aspect of this forum is not that we find solutions to world peace, just that we continue to think out loud about possible solutions. Great ideas come from the damdest places.Sometimes an eloquent solution starts out as a pain in the butt.
Was dipping a light bulb in your tank a good idea ? probably not.
Did it make you think ? In the imortal words of GWB , Mission Accomplished:)

The light bulb and beer can could work. The problems I see are buoyancy of the can and electrical shocks. One way to solve this would be mineral oil in the beer can with the light dipped into it. The mineral oil would make the beer can less dense, and also provide insulation for the bulb.

i actually tried to heat my tank with light bulbs when i first got it, but not to a great extent(room temp was already decent). wouldnt it be real difficult to monitor how much the tank is being heated? :O

I couldn't stand it any longer! My raphaels are still strongly engaged in what can only be courtship behavior and the idea of missing this opportunity over $40 was too much to reconcile. I now have almost no personal spending, but I bought a 300w marineland heater. Wish me and my raphaels luck.

And don't electrocute yourselves. ;)

Thanks, all.

Doing something that most MFK's want to give you from your first post.
MFK's raise their hand and swooooooooooooosh across your face.:)
