heavy rock in a tank.

lmao. i just weighed the rock. no wonder why. it weights 71 lbs. i weighed myself holding it and it came to 246...and i am 175. should i still put it in?

i just brought it back out. not only is it too heavy but it will take up too much living space in the tank. that blue bin is a recycle bin that is the size of a standard garbage pale for size reference

na like i said earlier. its a really awkward stretch. ill just leave it there b/c the dog pees all over that area killing the grass anyways lol

Where is a moderator? This thread should be a sticky. LOL j/k

I share your fear on the huge rocks and that's a big rock indeed. I like the light diffuser idea also, but still anything that heavy is just too much to risk for glass imho.

Not that there is anything wrong with placing a heavy rock in the aquarium, but i can see where your fear stems from...

I've always personally placed rocks ontop of the substrate, although i know to some this is a big no no... this way at least in my mind if it does slip, its not as likely to just crack the bottom of my tank, and 2nd i feel more comfortable knowing its not touching the bottom directly so if it does tilt and fall from fish knocking it over, it won't crack as well...

But with the sort of weight your talking about, i would also be hesitant to place it into a tank unless i was 100% sure i could put it in and take it out with ease and no worry about dropping it...
