Too bad there are so many pacu such as this that are in need of proper housing. Good luck with getting her healthy. You planning on keeping or trying to find her a home?

I'm a trolling idiot? How many people on this site keep fish irresponsibly... a lot. Because I don't know Pi-Eyed well enough to know that he knows what he's doing, and jump to conclusions, I'm a trolling idiot?

Lack of research. Taking about two minutes to research Pi-eyed previous threads. You would have quickly seen he is an experienced keeper and has even previously kept pacu.

There's a roughly 16" Black Pacu here locally that someone on craigslist is trying to get rid of. They have it housed in a 100g tank. :( I posted it on market place but my largest is 125g so I couldn't take him in.

Do you research every OP before replying?

I would love to keep her but as we all know, they require a huge tank. My main concern right now is to get her healed up and healthy. Then comes the task of rehoming her. I'll probably have her longer than I would like but at least here she will be cared for(even if she's a little cramped for a minute).

^ ^ Wow... ^ ^

That poor Pacu got destroyed. It's hard to even imagine how a Giant Gourami could get his teeth so close to the scales of the Pacu to do this much damage considering how fat their lips are.

Good lord. I think you need to have a sit down with your mother in law and let her know Pacu isn't the fish for her!!! Lol... :D

:ROFL::ROFL:...My mother in-law bought 4 pacu and kept them in that 75g long hex until they couldn't turn around :(. So I told her I would put them in one of my tanks. She was so mad at me when I found a suitable home for them. She went right back out to petsmart and bought another one. Again growing it out until the poor thing couldn't turn around. I originally bought my 150g for her pacu but she didn't want it :screwy:. She said it would be too much work to maintain.. I think she is all done with the fish fad now though(I hope). She sold all of her tanks and gave all of her fish away.

Good lord, lol. It really, really, surprises me that lfs in most areas sell fish like the RBP, Arowana, etc. I think it's really irresponsible of them. I just read a thread on here yesterday with a 12 year old kid talking about his 90 gallon tank and his Arowana he just put in it. :headshake

Lets hope she's got the fish fever out of her system for the love of the poor Pacu community! Lol.

EDIT: On another Pacu note, I absolutely love Pacu and have always wanted to have one but I simply don't have the means. My biggest is 125g. Bummer too because, like I said, some local here is giving away a 16" Black Pacu on craigslist that I would love to have.

Pacu are the puppy dogs of the fish world.. Well more like the st. bernard--. They are very loving and very smart. Unfortunatley they grow to be gigantic. The few I've had were an awesome experience. They recognize you, and beg for food just like a dog would. If I had he monster tank I'd definetly keep her.
