well, as some of you know, I' ve had some problems with my giant ( bacterial secondary infection is my best guess afetr reading and reading and reading and talking to several guys in a country where not one vet knows about fish ).
I've tried several methods, but yesterday I decided to go all the way and resort to atomic weaponry. A potassium permanganate bath in a solution of 500 mg per 100 litres.
We got everything ready, Severum1 and myself, a nice container, towels, the potassium permanganate solution, etc.
The aro even helped, entering into the plastic abag I put in front of her in the tank, on the third attempt.
When I pulled the plastic bag aou tof the tank to take the aro to the bath container, she simply, in milliseconds, exploded and tore the plastic bag and skyrocketed through the air, all 3 kilos of aro, through my living room...
I picked her up with a towel, and since already were so bad, might as well give her the potassimu permanganate bath and i plunged her into the container where she coped for 27 minutes with a strong airstone.
She went back into the tank, wrapped in a towel so contaminated water did not fall into the tank and there she stood, on the brink, for nearly 4 hours with me keeping the closest watch, alternating between making her swim and letting her rest, and fending the other aro's off...
she lost 4 enormous golden scales and tore the plate of bone in her gill cover.
It is half past midnight. She is alright now. She made it.
oh, and she is clean. No more stuff on her skin.
Lesson to be learned, pay very close attention to the bags you use to take up monster aro's from the tank...it really was a close call, and she explode the thing in less than the blink of an eye....
