Heres a link to a DIY stand or pretty much whatever you could think of.http://www.garf.org/

Also with $900 bucks you could go bigger than 125 if you dont want a 200+ tank you could settle into a nice 180 72 inches long and 24 inches wide and tall. Great tank if you wanna throw a couple fish in there that get big instead of just one. Good luck Craigslist is the best i got a 300 gallon tank for $100 and thats not a typo!

Dude, 100 bucks for a 300 is a crazy deal!

Sorry for the short responses in the other post. Me and my friend were in the library at my school using the computers.. we were supposed to be studying Log cabins for history so I had to write short so I didnt get caught, LOL.

But anyways, a 180 sounds like a good idea. My brother moved out and both of our stairs our upstairs, Its my room, then walk about 10 feet then its his room. I think I could clean it out and out the 180 and stand in there to spread out the weght of my 35 thats up there. i just dont want it to be right next to eachother.

But what could really go with a Jag? a crenicichla would be cool but I dont know much about them. Any suggestions?

THANKS FOR THE LINK TO THE DIY STAND!

And thanks everyone else for replying!

Keep in mind everybody that he said that this tank is going upstairs in his room, so I think anything larger than a 125g would be asking for trouble.

Maybe I'm wrong? :lipsseale

The weight would be spread out though, Im still kind of iffy on it, I was thinking I could just put it in a corner as close against the wall as I can...

Plus we rent, Im extremely tempted to ask my landlord "Hey, do you think this floor would hold about 1,600 pounds? Just wondering" Haha!:nilly:
Also as far as tank mates go, if I did get a 180 would the Jag be able to live with a loisellei and a red tiger motaguensis?

I'm just looking for ideas. If I got a 125 gallon wouldnt I be limited to only one tank mate?

wow lot of ideas here but why limit it to cichlids id go with polys for starters and you could have many other fish in there. wow i have a lot to say first with the jag id make sure to have a 6 foot tank if you want tankmates to be other cichlids but jags and there cousins have there own personality so thay can be unpredictable but in my opinion there are two routes to take when getting a jag first you could get a jag and have it the only cichlid and have oddballs as tankmates if you got a 180+ tank you could get a clown knife and i have know many people how have had success with clown knifes and polys and most if not all catfish as long as the water params are the same or you could have a mass of big cichlids like have 3midas and 1jag 1mota serverums convics and other big cichlids but that can be alot of work with filtration and not to mention that big cichlids eat alot but if you do get alot of cichlids i would recommend going to petsmarrt and buying them as babys and raising them together also you can buy cichlids there for cheap but there small

also go to craigslist.com thay can have some very good deals makeing your own stand can be cheap and easy but you want to seal it and make sure it can hold your tank water may not seem like much but a 10 gallon tank weighs 100 pounds and lastly be careful with big cichlids do not under estimate there aggressive ness like my jag couldn't care less about my fish but one day it decided that it didn't like one of my firemouths and wouldn't stop biteing it and later killed it

I'm going to have my fish ordered from a local LFS as they currently do not have any jags for some reason. They have pacu, aros, and gar, but no Jags!

Could a jag live with a grey bichir or would it just tear it too shreads?

I kind of want to get a male jag and a female motoguensis red tiger and see if they would breed.

All I know is that I want a Jag and something else, Haha.

I'm tempted to get a motoro ray but I have heard they are way much harder to take care of compared to cichlids.

Could even a reticula live out its live in a 125? I just dont know what to do!

Its so hard to choose fish, I wish I could just have someone do it for me and add them to my tank then I could just come home and they'd be there. Haha.

I was kind of thinking breeding pair or jags but I have nowhere for fry to go.

All I know is I want a jag and something else and have no idea what that something else is.
